UM, UIM & Bad Faith Insurance

Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Coverage

Important insurance is provided to Texas citizens through uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, also known as UM or UIM insurance. This insurance is important coverage for anyone injured in an accident with an uninsured driver. If the other driver involved in the accident is underinsured or uninsured, the accident requires "first party" compensation. First party compensation involves protection from your insurance company and requires that your insurance company pay the amount of your claim. Underinsured driver claims are paid up to the policy limit of the underinsured driver and the insurance company pays the balance of the coverage that you have agreed upon in your policy.

For example, if the underinsured driver was only able to cover $10,000 in damages, and your policy for underinsured drivers with your insurance company covers damages up to $60,000, the insurance company is required to pay the remaining amount of damages after the first $10,000 is collected from the other driver's insurance. Sadly, many insurance companies violate good faith when the time comes to collect the amount agreed upon in your policy. If your insurance company is not fully and fairly dealing with your claim, you have the right to file a bad faith claim with the help of a highly experienced Dallas personal injury attorney.

Representing Bad Faith Victims Throughout Texas

As severe personal injury attorneys, we see the harm that insurance companies that act in bad faith can do. After a serious injury, compensation is not an option, it is a right. If insurance companies are not keeping their promises to their policy-holders, they should be held accountable with the help of a Dallas personal injury lawyer. Our firm has assisted many clients with bad faith claims involving underinsured and uninsured drivers. We have received a perfect 10/10 rating from Avvo® and have been recognized in the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Texas each year from 2007 to the present. We are also members of the Million Dollar Advocate ® and Multi- Million Dollar Advocate ® forums, and we also belong to the National Crime Victim Bar Association, the National Trial Lawyers and the Brain Injury Association of Texas.
